"God and Goulash (and Garage Sales)"
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 5:16
Yesterday I had coffee with my sister, who - although she says she wants to believe, does not. In talking to her she said starting a blog about God was dumb...and that God and recipes might be better. She said, "nobody wants to hear about God - but maybe God and Goulash..."
Hmmm.
This morning for fun I googled God and Goulash and GUESS WHAT, there is actually a book titled Goulash, Garage Sales and God that you can buy on Amazon...so if that's your thing, go for it.
Here though, I just want to talk about God because I know the transformative power He has had in my life - and I want that for everyone!
I then think about my sister and so many others in my life who do not believe in God. My heart aches for them, and I realize no matter how much I talk, my true testimony is how I act. When they look at me do they see someone who is living differently, someone who embodies LOVE GOD and LOVE PEOPLE?
In my case the answer is, "not always".
In many instances with those who do not believe in God, it is because at some point they tried church - but religion hurt them. We must realize that God didn't come to start a religion. He WANTS a relationship. He WANTS to be that person we trust and turn to when things are hard. He WANTS to be the person we share our dreams with. He WANTS to be the person who gives us hope and a future. And He WANTS us to be His, forever.
There are Christians I know who absolutely radiate the light of God in their lives, and when you see them can't help but think, "there is something different about this one." Those are the people that can attract others to God, and I want to be that kind of person. I want to live a life that shines for God.
Prayer: Lord God, I praise and bless your name. I thank you Lord God for all you have given me and for what I continue to receive through your love and mercy. Guide me, oh Lord, to be closer to you. Strenghthen me and protect me from the enemy and allow me to radiate the light of your love in my life. I ask this through the Lord Jesus Christ, your son. Amen.
Thank you! I am enjoying these so much! Keep up the godly work! <3 Lisa
