CHOOSE WHOM YOU WILL SERVE
While
watching TV last night, I told Jim I felt like the end was near.
And,
of course, there are those reading this who might think, “Susan, you’re crazy! Why would you believe that?!?”
But
it’s the total juxtaposition of things I’m seeing in the world right now that
causes me to think it might be true. For
example:
- There are people and organizations hosting drag shows for child audiences.
- There was an impromptu round-the-clock prayer marathon at Asbury University that lasted over two weeks.
- A google search will reveal a video from an incident that occurred a few days ago in which a man was stabbed to death at a Starbucks in Canada while another man sits nearby, calmly drinking his coffee.
- A commercial that told us, “JESUS GETS US” aired at the Superbowl.
- We’re told gender is fluid and men are being allowed to compete in women’s sports after declaring they “feel” like a woman.
- Shows like “The Chosen,” and movies like “Jesus Gets Us,” have huge audiences.
I
feel as if we are being shown, VERY CLEARLY, that there is a spiritual
war raging, and that God is asking us to choose which side we’ll take…
Before
Moses sent the tribes of Israel into the promised land, he reminded them of all
that the Lord had asked. He said, “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses
against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live..”
Before
his death, Joshua (the man who had succeeded Moses) said this to the
Israelites: “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and
in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the
River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will
serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the
River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as
for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Jesus tells us the end will come, and
when it does people will be sorted – lambs from goats. We’re told those who believe and have put
their faith in Jesus will live, while those who do not – won’t.
Whether the end times are truly here or
not, is – as Jim is fond of saying – “beyond my pay grade.” However, at some point the die will be cast
and you will be marked for either Heaven or Hell. I desperately want those I love to join me in
Heaven, and I think being undecided – is actually a choice.
If you’re not there yet, what are you
waiting for?
As
Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, Luke 19:42 says He wept over it, saying,
“If you, even you,
had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from
your eyes.”
