Manna from Heaven
To write a daily devotional blog, you have to have a lot of things to talk about. I don’t…but the idea for the blog didn’t come from me, and in truth, neither do the postings.
Sometimes
I get anxious when I don’t have at least a few ideas jotted down ready to be "fleshed out" and published. But, just like the manna which God
provided to the Israelites in the desert in order to feed them each day, each day He gives me an idea,
and helps me to write it to completion.
When I get worried about not having any inspiration, I think
God wants me to remember the story of the manna, and to believe that He can provide
it for me daily.
“Then
the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather
enough for that day. In this way I will
test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.” – Exodus 16:4
“And my
God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Jesus
Christ.”
– Matthew 6:31-32
I also think
those truths go WAAAYYYY beyond blog posts.
In
EVERYTHING, God says, “Trust Me,” and more and more, I am learning to do that.
It is sometimes
hard to reconcile the ideas of Free Will with God’s Sovereignty. If God sees, knows and can control
everything, how can we be responsible for our own choices?
I think
of it this way – God has given us the ability to make our own choices. We can choose to follow and trust Him, or we
can operate under the illusion that WE ARE THE ONES with ultimate
authority. If we choose the latter, He
often lets us live with the consequences of those actions.
But
whether we choose God, or ourselves as the ultimate authority, He is
continually working for the good of those who love Him.
“And we
know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have
been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Your life
is yours to live. Your choices are yours
to make. But you should know that He is
ALWAYS available, and that miracles of provision – like manna from Heaven, are
His alone to give.

"Trust Me!" I needed that one.
