YOU IN THE MULTIVERSE
Lately, there have been a host of multiverse movies. In them, the many versions of a person live different lives on different timelines. There was:
The Chris Pine version of Star
Trek (I LOVE Chris Pine), the animated Spiderman into the
Spiderverse, The Avengers Endame, and most recent Best
Picture winner, Everthing, Everywhere, All at Once.
For the most part, movies about the
multiverse are not my thing…but today I came across an interesting post that
made me think, “WE ALL (sort of) EXIST IN A MULTIVERSE!!!” It was a thought that has been messing with
my brain a little.
You see, the YOU that is you, the
YOU that you know, is not the same YOU that is known by your parents, your
siblings, your friends, your boss, you co-workers, or your spouse. Everyone’s version of WHO YOU ARE differs a
little bit from everyone else’s.
It is strange to think that NO ONE
knows the real you.
No one… EXCEPT God.
My Bible tells
me:
There is nothing
I do that He doesn’t see:
“You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit
and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying
down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you,
LORD, know it completely.” – Psalms 139:1-4
“Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” – Hebrews 4:13
He even knows the things I’ve kept hidden from the world:
“God, you know every sin I've committed;
My life's a wide-open book before you.” – Psalms 69:5 (MSG)
And even though He knows me fully, He loves me any way.
“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and
gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”
– Psalms 86:15
I like the thought that I can be myself
with God, and that even when that SELF does things that might disappoint Him,
He loves me anyway.
