LOVE NOTES FROM GOD

 


Since mid-April I have been receiving a daily text from someone in the (616) area code.  The text is always a Bible quote, and the texts always ends with “Have a Great Day Susan, Jesus Loves You!”

Now I admit that when they first started coming, since the number was not one in my contacts, I should have apologized and said, “I’m sorry – but your name is not showing in my contacts, can you please tell me who you are.”  But I didn’t.  And now, after over a month of daily texts, it’s too late for something like that….

The fact that the texts come at different times of the day suggest they are from a real person and not an automated feature of some place that got hold of my phone number…

The fact that whoever is writing me uses my name would suggest that they know me.

So now, what to do with this?!?!

 I have tried a white pages reverse number lookup and it says the phone number belongs to someone in Lowell Michigan outside Grand Rapids.  In one case the number was linked to a person named Steven Abdalla, in another to David Thurston.  If I’ve met these people, I do not remember them. 

So now, instead of questioning who, or why – I think of these texts as little love notes from God.

This morning’s message, arriving at 7:21 said, “’Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’ – Matthew 11:28-30 NIV Have a great day today Susan!!! Jesus loves you!!”'

Nice!

 I feel like God knows I am working every day to listen to Him and to use what He is telling me to send little bits of encouragement out into the world through this blog.  I feel like these daily texts tells me He sees what I’m doing, and He wants to continue… 

For even on the days when readership is low, HE IS THERE.  AND HE LOVES ME!  And maybe, just maybe – seeds are being planted and His Kingdom is growing.  YAY!

The Journey to the Cross (Day 4 - THE LADDER)

In the city of Jerusalem stands a church called  The Church of the Holy Sepulcher.   It has been proposed as the place of both the death and resurrection of Jesus, and it has been a place for pilgrimages since the 4th century. Considered holy, the site is cared for by no less than six denominations including Greek Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Roman Catholic, Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac Orthodox.  As such, it has been carefully parsed out into sections.  And sadly, arguments and violent clashes are not uncommon. The Journey to the Cross (Day 3 - ONLY JESUS)

Today’s Holy Week post has me thinking about the 12 disciples. ONLY JESUS Can you name Jesus' 12 disciples?  If you've been watching The Chosen or reading your Bible regularly, you might be able to.  However - there are some, who - at least for me, are a bit in the shadows. Sure I know Simon/Peter, and his brother Andrew .  And then there was James and John, the sons of Thunder (or Zebedee to be exact).  There was Matthew, and Thomas, and Judas Iscariot.  And there was Simon the Zealot, and another James...but...but...a nd here is where my mind isn't as good at remembering.   So I Googled it.
