Down Time

As I write this, we begin a vacation week in Nicaragua, and for me, it means a time to rest.  The days of the past four weeks have been filled with work so the thought of a little "down time" makes me happy.

In truth, I don't have a whole lot planned...

I'll take Spanish lessons.  I'll draw.  I'll write.  I'll spend a little more time with God, and I'll recharge so I can finish strong,

As humans, rest is critical to our wellbeing.  If we don't get enough of it, it can lead to serious health problems.  And rest isn't just about getting our strength back - its about trust.  It's about demonstrating our belief that we don't have to strive ALL THE TIME, and that God will provide for our needs.

We know that even God rested after he finished His work (Genesis 2:2-3) and He has created us to need rest as well.

When you are weary - know that it is okay to take a step back, and to rest.  And know that your soul will find rest in Him.

"Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.  Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken." - Psalm 62:1-2
