Missed Opportunites

Today's post will be a short one because our bus will be leaving shortly - and I still have so much to do.
Apparently I slept fhrough my alarm for the first time in 7 weeks.

My plan had been to wake up at 4:30 (as per usual), write my post - and go see one final sunrise on the terrace.  Watching the sun rise over the volcanoes is an amazing thing...

However, since I woke up late - I missed that opportunity.

And as I was lamenting that I realized that I also missed many opportunites to talk to people, really TALK to them about God.

Within the community I don't think I could have done that yet,  because the lack of a common language would have made it difficult.  So, to them I tried to DEMONSTRATE the love of God, and I think I did a pretty good job.

But with the group after group of American folks who came here to serve - I feel like those were the opportunites that were missed.  I'm not sure whether I just didn't think about it - or whether it was because I suspect some of those conversations might have been awkward or difficult.  But awkward and difficult (for me) shouldn't be a barrier,

And because I believe that those who do not know about the gospel or who choose to reject it are missing the BIGGEST opportunity, I need to get over myself.

So when I return to Nicaragua (and I will return to Nicaragua) I have two new goals:

  1. Learn Spanish
  2. Remember that actually TALKING about God is important.  (This one is one I will take home with me as well!)

"Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.  Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts." - Psalm 105:1-2
