One Hundred and Eight

I walked into the cafeteria this morning and the "look" has changed dramatically overnight.  When I went to bed there had been 10 tables that each could accomodate 8.  This morning there are now 14.  We are expecting a lot of new people today...108 to be exact.

We have young people from Northridge Church (my home church), ones from Gateway church, which I believe is in Dallas, and finally some from The Vine (from which state, admittedly, I do not know.)  And, as this will be my last week here, I am both nervous and excited.

I am nervous because with a group that big, the logistics of how this week will work has increasd in complexity.  However, I am excited because I love people - but it's more than that...

I would assume that because the groups are from 3 churches, everyone that is coming might be a Christian...however, that may be a false assumption.  So, I will work at trying to be a good representative of my faith so that people who see me, might see something attractive.  I also think of how wonderful it will be for the people of the community in San Benito (the one we're working in while I am here), to see 100+ "gringos" who have flown in from the United States with the purpose of "helping out" and "sharing God's love".

One-hundred and eight people represents one-hundred and eight opportunities to be a light.  And THAT - makes me excited!

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. - Acts 2:46-47
