Three little words
1 Kings 19:11-12 - "Then He said, 'Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.' And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord wasnot in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice."
My husband sent me this verse last week and it was quite
appropriate, as a lot has gone on here in Nicaragua. First, the large close volcano, San
Cristobal, erupted on the 6th and produced an ash cloud that rose 3 miles above
the top….but I did not see God in the eruption.
Then, over the weekend, I went to a place called “the boom”
in Aposentillo. It is a surfer hot spot because the waves
are large and the sound is thunderous. But I did not see Him in the waves.
So then I decided to look up verses that had these
words: STILL. SMALL. And VOICE…and this is what I got:
Be STILL and know that I am God - Psalm 46:10
The Son of God, who “did not count equality with God a
thing to be grasped,” even became SMALL to save us (Philippians 2:6–8).
My sheep hear my VOICE, and I know them, and they follow
me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they
shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. - John
10:27-28
And I
discovered that in reading and thinking about the meaning of those 3 verses… I
see Him clearly.
