2:22


The last few nights I've woken up at 2:22.

It's a funny number because each time I saw it I thought of an old "ghost story" Dad used to tell about BLUE 22...and perhaps that is a story for another time.

But when you wake up at 2:22 once, well - it's just a lovely memory of Dad.  Twice becomes a weird coincidence...and when it happens THREE times, I feel like God is trying to tell me something.

So, I look it up. 

Now you need to know when I do this sort of thing - I like it when I can find complete verses that correspond to the number - without adding additional numbers.  For example:

Daniel 2:22 says this: "He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells within him."

I like that one, and it made me think of this verse from Isaiah...

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them a light has shone." (Isaiah 9:2)

That verse is said to have been a prophetic reference to Jesus.  Cool.  But I continue on.

The second 2:22 I came across was Acts 2:22, which says, "Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know."

Okay God, I'm beginning to see a picture... But, just like 2:22 was the time I awoke THREE TIMES, there is a third 2:22.  

It is 2 Timothy 2:22 which says this: "Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

So here is where I go after waking up these past three nights at 2:22...

Jesus/God knows things, deep secret, hidden things - and He is the light that can break through the darkness.  Jesus was sent to Earth and did miracles, wonders and signs so that we would know that God "sees" us, and is with us.  And now, we must turn away from sin, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace - for those are the things God loves and desires for us.

The Journey to the Cross (Day 4 - THE LADDER)

In the city of Jerusalem stands a church called  The Church of the Holy Sepulcher.   It has been proposed as the place of both the death and resurrection of Jesus, and it has been a place for pilgrimages since the 4th century. Considered holy, the site is cared for by no less than six denominations including Greek Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Roman Catholic, Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac Orthodox.  As such, it has been carefully parsed out into sections.  And sadly, arguments and violent clashes are not uncommon. The Journey to the Cross (Day 3 - ONLY JESUS)

Today’s Holy Week post has me thinking about the 12 disciples. ONLY JESUS Can you name Jesus' 12 disciples?  If you've been watching The Chosen or reading your Bible regularly, you might be able to.  However - there are some, who - at least for me, are a bit in the shadows. Sure I know Simon/Peter, and his brother Andrew .  And then there was James and John, the sons of Thunder (or Zebedee to be exact).  There was Matthew, and Thomas, and Judas Iscariot.  And there was Simon the Zealot, and another James...but...but...a nd here is where my mind isn't as good at remembering.   So I Googled it.
