Sardines
"The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God". - Psalm 14:2
When I was young we used to play a game called SARDINES. In the game, one person would go and hide, while the rest of the players counted to 100. Once there, they would all split up to go hunting for the person who had hidden. However, unlike HIDE AND SEEK, once you found the person - you were supposed to cozy up next to them while others continued to look. The game was over once everyone found "it".
Now I believe God likes for us to seek Him, because when I googled "Bible seek God" the first result was one that said, "30+ uplifting Bible Verses About Seeking God"
But this morning as I thought about those childhood games, I decided that I believe God would rather play SARDINES than HIDE AND SEEK.
Yes, He wants us to seek Him with all of our hearts - but when we find Him, I think He'd like us to cozy up next to Him, to learn His ways, and to gleefully "make room" when others find and want to join us.
The Bible tells us that God wants us to seek Him out. "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart." - Jeremiah 29:13
And that when He sees us doing this - He is pleased. "I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me." - Proverbs 8:17
We can seek God through prayer, or by reading His word. We can question Him and ask Him to lead us. We can investigate by reading books and articles. We can journal and spend time in nature. We can set aside time each day to do things that will allow us to seek Him. And he promises that when we earnestly look for Him, we will find Him. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and t him who knocks, the door will be opened." - Matthew 7:7
