Artistry
It said:
"How cool is it that the same God that created mountains and oceans and galaxies, looked at the world and decided it would be better with one of you too?"
God is an amazing artist. He paints breathtaking sunsets. He made the oceans sparkle in the sunlight. He lovingly picked out colors for trees and bushes, flowers and grasses - and when we see them we cannot help be be awed by their beauty.
This weekend I was driving home from Purdue. The day was cloudless and the sky a brilliant blue. I did not keep to the freeways but rather found myself on little roads that wound through trees and countryside. I opened my window, turned on some classical music and reveled in the beauty of the day.
Now while a "random" universe might have been filled with errant colors that clashed and vied for attention - such was definitely NOT the case. In the scenery that God crafted, every color worked in harmony. There were multiple shades of green. There were browns, yellows, rusts, oranges and reds. There was maroon, and white and purple. And around every turn, and at every new vista I found myself thinking, "WOW!"
Too often, people look at themselves and only see the things which they perceive as "flaws". But you were made to God's exact specifications, and what's more - you were created in His own image.
"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." - Genesis 1:26-27
So when you see yourself in the mirror today, I want you to remember that the same God who made the colorful flowers, the beautiful sunsets, the gorgeous oceans, the magnificent cosmos, and our fantastic earth, also though His "artwork" would not be complete without beautiful wonderful YOU!
