Amazement

There are two stories in the Bible that are incredible to me.
They talk about times when Jesus was amazed.  Jesus - the Son of God, the one who was WITH GOD at the beginning and who will return at the end of days to separate the "wheat" from the "chaff."

The first mention of Jesus' amazement was after a visit to his hometown.  The Bible tells us, "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.  He was amazed at their lack of faith." - Mark 6:5-6

So, there is power in faith, for without it - Jesus could not do any miracles.  Without faith - we limit God's ability to work in our lives.

The other time Jesus was amazed can be found in Luke.  There we hear the story of a centurion whose servant is sick and about to die.

The centurion had heard of Jesus and the things he had been doing, the people he had been healing, the miracles he had been performing, and so he sent some of the elders of the Jews to ask Jesus to help.

Jesus was not far from the house "when the centurion sent friends to say to him: 'Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.  That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you.  But say the word, and my servant will be healed.  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me.  I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it.'

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, 'I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.'  Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well." - Luke 7:6-10

In this story we see that with great faith comes great power, and Jesus' ability to work in our lives is not limited or hampered in any way.  I find this fantastic!

The way to AMAZE Jesus is by our faith.

Today, I pray that God might grow our faith so that He might have greater access to our minds, hearts and lives in order to accomplish His work more swiftly and more fully.  God does the work.  Our job is simply to have faith.
