Life Moves Pretty Fast

My son, Max was recently home from college and as I watched him, I realized I could VIVIDLY remember being his age.

In so many ways it seems like just yesterday - but then WHOOSH, all of a sudden I turned 60.

Someone once said our lives are a lot like a roll of toilet paper...the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes!

That feels true and I am reminded of Ferris Bueller who said, "Life moves pretty fast.  If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Each person has 24 hours in a day.  That's 1440 minutes and what you choose to do with that time is totally up to you.  However, I think a lot of people put off doing the really important things until "later," until the "busyness" of their lives stops...figuring they ALWAYS have MORE TIME.

But time is a constant and the Bible tells us this:  "You do not know what tomorrow will bring.  What is your life?  For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." - James 4:14

For years in my mom's office she had a cartoon tacked to a bulletin board. The cartoon was of a headstone at a gravesite that read, "Hear lies Clara Bomblatt.  Devoted laundress."

It's a sad commentary about a life spent doing things that didn't matter.  And as my toilet paper roll speeds closer and closer to its end - I think about my own epitaph.

· Skilled worker · Dedicated employee · Amazing housekeeper · Frazzled human being ·

or

· Fantastic parent · Terrific spouse · Caring Volunteer · Compassionate Christian · Loving ·

24 hours.  1,440 minutes.  That's it.

Make sure you are spending them on things that count.
