Why I Love a Water Pik

 


I LOVE a Water Pik!

Truly, I think it is the BEST dental hygiene invention known to man.  

Sure, I like a Sonicare toothbrush, and yes - I use floss.  I also like ADA endorsed toothpaste, and Listerine mouthwash…but for my money - the Water Pik beats them all.

That's because even after brushing my teeth, even after flossing, even after rinsing my mouth and gargling with mouthwash, when I use the Water Pik and shoot litle jets of water between my teeth - invariably bits of food and gunk come out of my mouth

So why am I telling you this?  Well, last night I brushed and flossed my teeth before bed, but this morning - after brushing again I used the Water Pik.  

I was revolted with what came out of my mouth and horrified at the thought of the food that had been rotting between my teeth all night.  DISGUSTING.

They say good dental hygiene is key to overall health, and as I thought about my Water Pik this morning, I thought about sin...

I reflected on the fact of how just a little bit of it can get stuck in our souls.  And how that sin can begin to rot and fester and cause a serious decline in our spiritual health.  

I thought about the Bible verses in Matthew that say this: "So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.  It's better to enter eternal life with only one hand or one foot than to be thrown into eternal fire with both your hands and feet.  And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away.  It's better to enter eternal life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell." - Matthew 18:8-9

Friends - let us work to carefully assess our lives and behaviors, and be like Water Piks - diligently trying to wash out the sin in our lives.

The Journey to the Cross (Day 4 - THE LADDER)

In the city of Jerusalem stands a church called  The Church of the Holy Sepulcher.   It has been proposed as the place of both the death and resurrection of Jesus, and it has been a place for pilgrimages since the 4th century. Considered holy, the site is cared for by no less than six denominations including Greek Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Roman Catholic, Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac Orthodox.  As such, it has been carefully parsed out into sections.  And sadly, arguments and violent clashes are not uncommon. The Journey to the Cross (Day 3 - ONLY JESUS)

Today’s Holy Week post has me thinking about the 12 disciples. ONLY JESUS Can you name Jesus' 12 disciples?  If you've been watching The Chosen or reading your Bible regularly, you might be able to.  However - there are some, who - at least for me, are a bit in the shadows. Sure I know Simon/Peter, and his brother Andrew .  And then there was James and John, the sons of Thunder (or Zebedee to be exact).  There was Matthew, and Thomas, and Judas Iscariot.  And there was Simon the Zealot, and another James...but...but...a nd here is where my mind isn't as good at remembering.   So I Googled it.
