The first snowfall...

I am up north today - writing from Alpena, Michigan.  It is a lakeside town on the Eastern side of the state and I am here visiting friends.

When I left my home in Saline this morning, the first snow of the season had begun to fall.  Down south there was about an inch of snow on the ground - however, here (about 4 hours north of here I started), there is about 10 inches.

The snow clings to the trees in big beautiful clumps, and the pure white contrasted against the green of the pines is magnificent!

As I look out the window at the winter wonderland I feel a deep sense of peace, for everything looks clean, and new and fresh.

This verse comes to mind - "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27

God is the author of peace.  He is our strength and our salvation.  And because of His great mercy, He sent His son to ransom us.  Our sins have been forgiven, and we have been washed clean.  Prase God!

"Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." - Psalm 51:7
