Leap Year

2024 is a leap year, meaning there are 366 days in the year as opposed to the usual 365.
And, since I started writing this blog, I have now posted 366 times.

Crazy!

I wrote when I was working on a mission trip in Nicaragua, and posting meant getting up at 5am.

I wrote when I had covid and was so sick I couldn't get out of bed.

I wrote when I was up north with no wi-fi.

And I wrote when my dad was sick, and then in hospice, and then died.

Writing mattered.  Praising God mattered, and so I wrote EVERY...

SINGLE...

DAY.

I wrote because I LOVE GOD and I wanted to share that love with anyone who might listen.  And so this blog has really been a labor of love, and a year-long love letter of gratitude to thank Him for reaching down to save me.

Nine years ago, someone at work asked about my "The Fish Are Calling..." tile on my desk, I felt too embarrassed to tell them it was about Jesus.

But God has been working on me, softening my heart while showing me His.

And now, I am no longer embarrassed or afraid.

And I have come to the conclusion that if my faith causes people to dislike me or shy away, then this is the type of "leap" I'm looking forward to:

"Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven..." -  Luke 6:22-23
